Ripe raspberry and strawberry parfait aromatics and flavors with dark chocolate and fresh vanilla bean that seem to wrap around a core of black cherries.
93 Pts Wine Spectator Highly Recommended Wines Jeff Cohn Zinfandel Paso Robles Isabel Dusi Vineyard 2013 • $38 Ideally captures Paso’s distinctive style of Zin, offering briary cherry and forest floor aromas and complex, well focusedflavors of raspberry, loamy mineral and white pepper. Drink now through 2029. —T.F. 93 Pts Robert M. Parker Jr., The Wine Advocate Jeb Dunnuck August 2016 "A classic Zinfandel that's loaded with notions of spice box, cigar box, sweet cherries, crushed flowers and black currants, the 2013 Zinfandel Dusi Vineyard has fabulous complexity in its evolved, sexy and medium to full-bodied personality. It has a touch of savory tannin on the finish, but they're covered by sweet, unctuous fruit. And, this rock solid effort is impeccably balanced and nicely focused on the palate. I love it today, but it will evolve beautifully for 7-8 years."
90 Pts Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine "Calling any of Mr. Cohn's Zinfandels "light" would be to give the wrong impression, with a family of big, broad-shouldered siblings the Dusi Vineyard bottling is the least muscle-bound of the brood. That, however, is not to say that it lacks for richness or concentration, and it steers to strawberries and plums with a mild trim of milk chocolate to its ongoing fruit. It tends slightly to softness on entry and initially impresses as wine to drink soon, but its aggressive, back-palate tannins make a strong case for three to five years of patience."
Vineyard Notes
This head trained vineyard with 70 year old vines and alluvial soils with large rocks bring brightness and lightness to the wine, it's never over the top. Growers Dante and Mike Dusi are great growers, producing great fruit complimenting a long relationship between Jeff and the Dusi family.
