On the palate this wine demonstrates a mineral-structured backbone. This multifaceted and extracted wine shows personality and character, while also being light on its feet. Dark roasted earth, black cherry and blackberry are hallmarks of this Syrah, more Hermitage like- never over the top.

"The 2013 Syrah Haley Rockpile is one of them. Inky opaque/purple in color, the wine has incredible sweet blackberry richness, a beautiful floral note, and that crushed-rock minerality that seems to be part of this AVA. The flavor intensity is mind-boggling, the purity, texture and length exquisite. This is another prodigious tour de force from Jeff Cohn that should drink well for at least 10-15 years."
Syrah at high elevations (2010 ft.) and rocky soils are a match made in heaven. Jeff has been working with the vineyards for more than 14 years.
