Wine Profile
91 Pts Robert M. Parker, Jr., The 100% Grenache cuvée, the 2014 Grenache El Diablo Fallen Angel comes from Russian River, saw 30% stems and was produced from "Chateaneuf du Pape suitcase clones." This has pure kirsch, lavender, licorice and spice, medium body, surprisingly modest alcohol for a ripe Grenache (15%), loads of fruit and, again, a Southern-Rhône-like personality. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.
90 Pts Wine Spectator "Savory and smoky, with a plump and polished structure. Floral black raspberry aromas lead to zesty, layered flavors of dark plum and licorice. Drink now through 2026." -TF
Vineyard Notes
We've been sourcing from this vineyard for over 7 years because it's the perfect sight for Grenache, and farmed by our friend and fellow vintner Ulises Valdez. It's cool, warm, and windy, with great soils that add depth and roundness. Clone: Chateauneuf suitcase, Farming techniques: Trellis, ge of vines: 9 years Elevation: 500 ft Avg Temp: 50-85 degrees Avg Harvest Date: late September to early October Soils: clay loam, adds depth & roundness while keeping finesse and balance
Production Notes
100% Grenache, Vinification: 30% whole cluster, all de-stemmed, not crushed
Winemaker Notes
Deep rich color of black cherry red. The expansive palate is very forward and lush. This leads to a sweet mid-palate. A composite of black and red fruits that have savory notes bring life and freshness to this exotic wine.
