2014 St. Peter's Church Vineyard Zinfandel

Since 1996 we have made this wine and each year this vineyard produces magic! in 2014 the perfect balance between fruit, spice, minerality and souther Rhône inspiration has taken this wine to a new level. Aromatics of briary black cherry, blackberry and dark chocolate filled croissant.

Tasting Notes
Blackberry and black cherry, with fresh roasted coffee, earth, and salted toffee caramel notes.
95 Pts Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate "The 2014 St. Peter's Church is 100% Zinfandel, but again has that beautiful floral nose that Cohn seems to achieve consistently. A big, sweet kiss of blackberry and black cherry fruit with baking spices, earth and a touch of pepper and forest floor. This is lush, full-bodied, stunning Zinfandel to drink over the next 7-8 years. By the way, it carries its 15.5% natural alcohol brilliantly."
93 Pts Wine Spectator Powerful, but polished and well-built, with aromas of dark berry, toasted sage and licorice, cardamom and cracked pepper. Finishes with big but refined tannins. Drink now through 2027. 218 cases made. –TF 93 Pts Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine "Mr. Cohn's Zinfandels rarely shy away from potency and extract, but they almost always exhibit plenty of very deep and explicit fruit that seems to stay a step or two ahead of the ubiquitous ripeness and that is most definitely the case here. The wine is big, it is ripe and it is highly concentrated with a full dose of defined, very deep, blackberry fruit that simply refuses to quit. It is underpinned by fairly substantial tannins that impart a slightly sere edge to its finish, and even if rich and intensely expressive right now, it follows in the footsteps of its 2014 mates in begging for at least a few years of cellar time."
Vineyard Notes
500 ft elevation in the beautiful St. Peter's Church Vineyard, along with alluvial, loamy/clay soils adding lift to the wine, but a distinct richness and great mouthfeel.

Winemaker Notes
One of the greatest Zinfandel vineyards ever. I have proudly been working with St. Pete's since 1996.
