2015 El Diablo Vineyard Grenache Image
2015 El Diablo Vineyard Grenache

Black cherry / blackberry fruit that swirls out of the glass as if the two are dancing the Paso Doble. On the front palate this wine has great entry, layered, truly exotic and mouth-coating, displaying a purity of what 100% Grenache can achieve.

Wine Profile
93 Pts Jeb Dunnuck Coming all from a site in the Russian River, the 2015 Grenache El Diablo Vineyard has a medium ruby color to go with lots of wild strawberries, spice box, red cherries, and dried flowers notes. It's medium to full-bodied, has beautiful purity of fruit, true Grenache character and a great finish. It's a terrific example of the variety from California that will keep for 5-6 years. 91+ Pts Wine Advocate The medium ruby-purple colored 2015 Grenache The Fallen Angel El Diablo Vineyard has a seductive nose of kirsch, Chinese five spice, potpourri and white pepper with touches of garrigue and dried lavender. The palate is full-bodied, rich and plush with tons of red berry preserves and spicy layers, finishing long and peppery.
90 Pts Connoisseurs' Guide Showing all of the power, potency and sheer concentration that we anticipate from Mr. Cohn's wines, The Fallen Angel is a very ripe, absolutely mouthfilling Grenache that may admittedly skirt the borders of excess when it comes to trailing astringency and heat, but it manages to keep its sights unwaveringly set on very deep and convincing fruit from front to back. Age is a must, even for those who hold that bigger is better, and, if another two years strikes us as a minimum wait, we would opt for a few more.
