2015 Nun's Canyon Zinfandel

In our blind tasting of all our wines, I think this one blew me away the most. From the aromatics of black cherries, roasted caraway seeds and wild herbs, Australian black licorice and red and black peppercorns draw you in. On the palate this is very full bodied and a total mirror image of the aromatics, with an extraordinary depth and length.

93 Pts Jeb Dunnuck There's a tiny 184 cases of the 2015 Zinfandel Nun's Canyon Vineyard, which offers a big nose of scorched earth, camphor, balsa wood, and exotic spices to go with loads of plum and black cherry fruits. It's ripe, opulent, packed with sweet fruit, and has a clean, dry finish. It's a classic, hedonistic Zinfandel done beautifully.
90 Pts Wine Advocate Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Zinfandel Nun's Canyon Vineyard gives up notes of sautéed herbs, dried mulberries and cranberries, Black Forest cake and Chinese five spice with a waft of dusty soil. Full-bodied and packed with prunes and spice box-inspired flavors, it has plenty of freshness and a chewy frame, finishing a bit warm.
Located high atop Nun's Canyon Road in the Moon Mountain District of Sonoma Valley, this vineyard is 80-90 year old head trained vines that produce a beautiful Zinfandel. One of our favorites managed by Phil Couturri.
