Seduction, gamey, funky, kinky and savage! These are the words that enter my mind whenever I smell this wine. Throw in some black licorice, cracked black pepper and beef jerky and now you understand why I love to make Mourvèdre. On the palate this wine showcases blackberry, roasted Herbs de Provence, roasted meats and a touch of lavender. A full throttle wine!
93 Pts Jeb Dunnuck From Paso Robles, the 2015 Twist of Fate is 100% Mourvèdre sourced from the Alta Colina Vineyard. Blueberries, strawberries, passion fruit, bay leaf, and some Northern Rhône-like bacon fat notes all flow to a juicy, elegant, yet intense red that has loads of fruit, impressive balance, and a great finish.
Alta Colina Vineyard is located in Paso Robles off of Adelaida Road. A steep hillside vineyard that captures the owner's belief of making the wines in the Vineyard. With that in mind, Bob, along with his daughter Maggie remain committed to translating their incredible site into every bottle.
To achieve the highest quality, they organically farm 31 acres atop two of Paso Robles’ highest altitude slopes of fractured shale. The steepness and exposure of their Adelaida District property dictate what they grow and how they farm.
Vinification: 100% whole cluster, de-stemmed, not crushed, open top fermenters, punch downs 5 x day and foot stomped
Great hillside fruit; great mineral backbone with fruit taking center stage. Bandol inspired, Chateauneuf du Pape influenced but California terroir driven.
