2016 St Peter's Church Vineyard Zinfandel
2016 St Peter's Church Vineyard Zinfandel

A beautiful purple / red color leads to aromatics that showcase very ripe and concentrated aromatics of black fruits and bramble. Raspberry and roasted herbs with a touch cinnamon stick and sarsaparilla root with a hint of vanilla bean. Full bodied but never heavy this wine is as complex as it is just fun to drink.

Wine Profile
Wine Enthusiast 93 Pts This is a favored site amongst Zin aficionados and for good reason. Earthy forest, tobacco and compost reside within a powerful frame of concentrated richness and complexity. Black pepper, licorice and black cherry come along, buoyant in sparkling acidity that refreshes and intrigues. Conn Guide 91 pts From a vineyard with a reputation for dense, ripe, occasionally over-the-top wines, Mr. Cohn has brought a modest measure of temperament to the beast without losing the concentration that remains the vineyard's hallmark. Ripe, deep and dark, yet nicely fruited as well, this one is, without question, a big wine that is very much in step with its siblings. Indeed, it may even be a tad less demanding of age than a few, and, if a half-decade in the cellar would not be too much, it is going to come drinkable earlier on. Reviewed: January 2019
Vineyard Notes
Jeff has worked with St. Peter's Church in Cloverdale since 1996. It's one of the best Zin vineyards ever. Planted to the St. Peter's Church Selection of Zinfandel, the 20-100 year old trellised vines are planted on the oldest U.S. vineyard on the site of a church.
