2016 Stagecoach Viognier
2016 Stagecoach Viognier

This year's collaboration with Yves Gangloff is a wine of golden yellow color, aromatics of white flowers, golden raisins, white peaches and dried apricots with a touch of minerality that draws you into a palate that is full-bodied and layered with peaches, apricots, mango and that Stagecoach minerality. This wine is all about seduction!

Wine Profile
94 Pts Jeb Dunnuck The 2016 Viognier comes from the Stagecoach Vineyard in the southern part of Napa and is a made via a partnership with the Northern Rhône's Yves Gangloff. This flamboyant white gives up a huge nose of apricots, tangerines, flower oil, and honeyed almonds. Deep, rich, full-bodied, and opulent on the palate, it's one pleasure-bent beauty to drink over the coming year or two. 90 Pts Wine Enthusiast Made entirely from one variety in collaboration with winemaker Yves Gangloff, this imparts a subtle floral nose of jasmine and a fresh spritzy midpalate of juicy acidity. Well made and complex, it melds together bold layered flavors of lemon peel, melon and apricot into a cohesive, full-bodied and concentrated whole.
Vineyard Notes
This region is dominated by the typical red volcanic soils of Stagecoach, but what makes the area unique is its enormous quantities of flat rock, which provide exceptional drainage to the hillside blocks. The eastern proximity gives this section of the vineyard a different spectrum of light than the intense south-western sun. This area has a more typically inland climate than the other two warm-climate areas of Stagecoach, mimicking the rest of the south-facing Foss Valley a bit more closely. The Atlas Peak Region has significantly less marine influence than the rest of the vineyard and has more shelter from the valley breezes, warming the region early in the morning and retaining the heat throughout the day. In fact, according to onsite weather stations, this is the warmest growing region of Stagecoach Vineyard.
