2016 El Diablo Vineyard Grenache
2016 El Diablo Vineyard Grenache
Sustainably Farmed Vineyard - Mix + Match BOGO Wine

A complex helix; aromatics of black cherry, red plum and raspberry jam. A complete wine on the palate that's lush, exotic and yes, just a little devilish. Black cherry and wild raspberry are the main focus on the palate with light touches of roasted earth and sage. A wine that explores the depths of what 100% Grenache can truly become.

Wine Profile
91 Pts Jeb Dunnuck From a site in the Russian River Valley, the 2016 Grenache El Diablo Vineyard saw a bigger chunk of stems (40%) and 18 months all in neutral oak. It's a perfumed, elegance Grenache that has wonderful notes of ripe cherries, black raspberries, red plums, violets, and spring flowers. Medium-bodied, fine, incredibly elegant, and silky, it just glides over the palate and is a beautifully balanced effort. Drink it over the coming 6-7 years. 91 Pts Conn Guide The complaint against this wine is that, in its youth, it makes almost no bow to the supple, inviting side of Grenache--and it is hard to disagree, if early roundness is one's first measure for the variety. But, Mr. Cohn does not make his serious reds for the here and now. That said, there is so much out and out depth and concentration here that some will give in to the temptation to pair it with dishes like venison or lamb in the most savory of preparations. For our part, we will hold it back for four or five years while it finds a bit more openness and shows its varietal potential more fully. Reviewed: March 2019 Wine Advocate 90+ Pts Medium to deep ruby-purple in color, the 2016 Grenache The Fallen Angel El Diablo Vineyard gives intense raspberry preserves, baked red and black cherry, bitter chocolate and garrigue aromas. Medium to full-bodied, it packs in the jammy fruit layers framed by firm tannins, going savory on the finish. This is a huge style of Grenache but well done.
