Club Special

Black cherry, purple in color wine, that is followed by aromatics of sweet black cherry and wild raspberries, roasted coffee beans and licorice. On the well endowed palate, this wine is not only opulent, but has tremendous texture that feels like the wine comes across the palate in waves.

Flavors of black cherry, raspberry, rosemary, and chocolate covered espresso beans are followed by long finish that brings all the flavors together in one last gush.

Tasting Notes
92 Pts Jeb Dunnuck I always love the Misc Stuff cuvée from Cohn and his 2016 is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre that saw 40% whole clusters and 18 months in 15% new French oak. Spiced berries, earth, some peppery herbs, and underbrush notes all flow to a medium to full-bodied, ripe, voluptuous effort that has sweet fruit, rounded tannins, and a great finish. Readers looking for a high-quality, pleasure bent, balanced red from California will be hard pressed to do better. 92 Pts Wine Enthusiast This is a robust, full-flavored blend of 55% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 15% Mourvèdre, a majority of the wine aged in concrete. Rose-petal and lavender aromas lead to big layers of black licorice, grilled meat, mushroom and strawberry puree, as underlying acidity saves the day. 91 Pts Wine Advocate The 2016 misc. stuff is a blend of 55% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 15% Mourvèdre. It has a medium to deep ruby color and is scented of baked red cherries, cured meats, peppercorn, baked plum, blueberry preserves, warm earth and garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, it's very savory/peppery in the mouth with pleasantly chewy tannins and good freshness, finishing long. 91 Pts Conn Guide Acting more like a Syrah than it has any right to do, this blend is lifted by aromas of black cherries, dark coffee, licorice and dried bark, and it gives no ground in the mouth where its full body and evident tannins give it a gruff edge that demands several years of bottle age. Its label nomenclature might suggest something less than serious, but the depth and range here say otherwise, and if we are used to the bold and unmistakable purity of this winery's many Rhône bottlings, this effort demonstrates a mastery of the art of the blend as well.
