2016 Rossi Ranch Zinfandel
2016 Rossi Ranch Zinfandel

Our inaugural vintage of this old vine Zinfandel is an incredible dark purple blue color.

Aromatics of cinnamon piecrust, smoky blackberry, black currant, oozing blueberry filling that take your sense of smell one way but on the palate you go in the other with black and red fruits, black licorice, violets and lavender layered on this incredibly lush palate. The wine finishes with brambly blackberry jam notes.

Wine Profile
94 Pts Wine Advocate The 2016 Zinfandel Rossi Ranch, deep ruby in color, has a fragrant, spicy nose with scents of cinnamon stick, brown sugar, pie crust and toasted coconut over a core of warm stone fruits, black cherry jam and mixed berries with peppery hints. The palate is full-bodied, intense and very perfumed, with a sturdy frame of grainy tannins and lip-smacking freshness, finishing very long and layered. This is so, so good! 94 Pts Jeb Dunnuck This famous Zinfandel site has turned out a rich, opulent 2016 Zinfandel Rossi Ranch that offers tons of baked plum, licorice, asphalt, and earthy aromas and flavors. It's rich, powerful, and hedonistic on the palate, yet stays, balanced and pure, with a great finish. Mostly destemmed and aged 18 months all in neutral oak, this bombastic beauty is ideal for drinking over the coming 7-8 years, possibly longer. 91 Pts Wine Enthusiast Aged in neutral French oak, this is a sanguine, smoky and spicy red, thickly concentrated in black olive, black currant, leather and lavender. It is made in a robust full-bodied style that nonetheless is equipped with complementary freshness and lift on the finish. Conn Guide 90 Pts As ripe as any of the Cohn Zins, this big boy combines a wealth of ripe blackberry fruit with hints of dried grapes and a bit of an earthy, stony minerality in its aromas, and reprises that bold mix on the palate where ripeness leads to noticeable heat and some grabby tannins. Almost "chunky" in posture, and very much in want of some cellar time, it asks for five years or more to resolve its astringency but its ripe fruit could come into full bloom with far less patience.
