The color of this wine reminds me of the saying: It's always darkest just before the dawn. I can tell you the moment before the dawn can’t even come close to how opaque this wine is.
Aromatically this wine covers the gamut from blackberry pie filling, lavender, wild herbs and even a hint of stone fruit one could spend at least 10 minutes just looking at the color and partaking of the aromatics. This wine is the Full Monty from the first sip, to the end of the glass. Blackberry, black currant, salted black licorice, and air dried beef. This wine is screaming for a cool winter's night and a crackling fire.
Simply put, it is one of my favorite varietals. Always deep, dark, and inky. This one comes from a 55° slope vineyard that is incredibly rocky and makes the vines work that much harder. I love this particular petite because the nose always is about black fruits and floral aromas, but what intrigues me is the hint of peach and apricot in both the aromatics and taste. The palate is like a mystery novel. You never know which way it will turn!
