Tasting Notes
94 Pts Jeb Dunnuck - Lots of violets, flowery incense, blueberries, and peppery herbs emerge from the 2017 Syrah Zio Tony Ranch, a ripe, concentrated, medium to full-bodied Syrah that shines in the vintage. From a vineyard in the Russian River Valley, it has terrific purity of fruit, a solid mid-
92 Pts Wine Enthusiast, Virginie Boone - Explosive in red fruit, earth, mushroom and gamy meat, this wine is textured in blue fruit, with a soft grip. Farmed by the Martinelli family, the site leaves you with specks of mineral-like crushed rock.
91 Pts Wine Advocate - Deep ruby-purple, the 2017 Syrah Zio Tony Ranch has slowly opening scents of blackberry and black cherry jam, menthol, turned palate, and building, ripe tannins. Give it a few years.

95 Pts Connoisseurs' Guide to CA Wines Cohn’s Zio Tony Syrahs are always wines of striking depth and dimension, yet this latest edition, while weighty and very full, displays a degree of real sophistication that very arguably makes it the best to date. It is slightly supple in feel with carefully fit tannins and raspberry and blackberry fruit to spare, and it is laced with elements of complimentary spice and loamy soil that impart plenty of unhidden complexity. It is already polished but will become more so with age, and, with four to six years of keeping should show the perfect mix of power and refinement. It is, in short, a collectible Syrah that is not to be missed. 92 Pts Wine Spectator Flamboyant, with plump fruit, layering ripe raspberry flavors with spiced cinnamon and smoked meat notes that glide along a plush finish. Drink now through 2027. — TF

Goldridge soils, clay and loam produce a dusty earth component making the 470 Syrah clone a little richer, rounder, and more seductive. Trellised vines, organic farming

Winemaker Notes
Deep saturated purple color and compelling aromas of cassis, blackberries, roasted earth and savory notes give way to a wine that is full bodied, but fresh and vibrant. Focused on black fruit and savory components of Charcuterie and black licorice that evolve into a long and complex finish.
