A brilliant vermillion, gemstone stone color. Aromatics of strawberry rhubarb pie, cherry, wild raspberries, cranberry, cinnamon stick, white chocolate, Herbes de Provence and just a touch of sweet grapefruit, that makes smelling the aromas of this wine such an experience.
On the palate this wine is one step close to being over the top! Supple and full on the front palate, but with pinpoint precision on the midpalate that is loaded with black and red raspberries, lavender and just a touch of strawberries. This wine’s finish is long and steady and seems to go on and on, and on.

It's another amazing vineyard that Ulises Valdez planted and farmed. The original "suitcase" budwood came from the famed vineyards of Chateau Rayas in Chateaunuef du Pape. Ulises Valdez and I were able to bring it from Rhône guru John Alban’s vineyard to the Russian River Valley, via connections in all the right places.
A cool climate site with just enough heat to produce a Grenache that is not only about finesse and elegance, but has enough backbone for aging. Each year when I make this wine, I am always amazed at the magic that happens after a year in the bottle. Patience is a virtue. I miss just sharing a glass or bottle or two with Ulises. This vineyard is the perfect site to stir one's emotions while drinking this wine.
I started Jeff Cohn Cellars with the help of my mother, Iris. One adorns the label as a tribute to her.
Appellation: Russian River Valley
Vineyard: El Diablo, sustainably farmed, originally planted in the 1930's, my block planted in 2010

93 Jeb Dunnuck — Lots of mulled strawberries, flowery incense, and ground pepper notes emerge from the 2018 Grenache El Diablo Vineyard, a medium-bodied, beautifully complex, lively Grenache that has silky tannins and no hard edges. It's well worth following over the coming 7-8 years, if not a decade.
93 Wine Advocate, Erin Brooks — The 2018 Grenache El Diablo Vineyard was made using 40% whole cluster and aged in neutral French oak for 18 months. Pale ruby, it takes some time to open to tar, bright red berries, tobacco leaf, dried orange peel and licorice. The palate is soft, gently grippy and very fresh with understated fruits and loads of spicy accents. It’s an elegant style this vintage.
