A dark ruby garnet in color that is just so vibrant and captivating to look at as you swirl the wine in the glass.
Aromatically this wine is wild raspberries, cinnamon stick and clove, crème brûlée and a touch of black licorice and freshly cracked black peppercorn. Then, on the palate this incredibly lush wine, just explodes! Black cherry compote. Roasted Herbes de Provence, black raspberries, tarragon just a touch of Valrhona Dulcey milk chocolate. In a blind tasting, I would say this could be Zinfandel that was grown in the Southern Rhône.
This once-in-a-lifetime wine is dedicated to my friend, Kent. 133 cases produced. In the Cohn Zone: drink now - 2028.

Maggie's was one of my favorite vineyards I worked with while the winemaker at Rosenblum Cellars. So, when my, my old boss, friend, and consulting partner, Kent Rosenblum called me to see if I was interested in making a few tons from this historic vineyard, I was not only honored, but also eager to put my Rhone-centric winemaking spin of on it. In the end, this wine turned out so very Southern Rhône in its style.
I know I made Kent proud with this one. I just wish he was here to share a bottle with me.
I started Jeff Cohn Cellars with the help of my mother, Iris. One adorns the label as a tribute to her.
Appellation: Sonoma Valley
Vineyard: Maggie's, organic, originally planted in 1901
Maggie’s Vineyard is among the oldest vineyards in Sonoma Valley. It is a true heritage vineyard. The gnarly, head-trained Zinfandel vines are interplanted with Sémillon, Muscadelle, and Palomino which are heritage white grapes.
Vinification: 100% Zinfandel
The fruit is hand-picked then cold-soaked. I gently foot-stomp the fruit of which 15% is whole cluster, the rest is whole berry and de-stemmed. None is crushed. The wine goes through open-top, then 100% Malolactic fermentation and aged 18 months in 20% new French oak, 80% neutral French oak.
