There are hints of dried cherry, violets, fresh curry and a berry melange. The texture is complimented by vibrant acidity intermixed with ripe tannins that make it zip from the glass.

"The 2013 Pinot Noir Lancel Creek Vineyard comes from the Russian River Valley in Sonoma and offers lots of mulberry, sweet cherry, mint, and floral aromas and flavors in its medium-bodied, supple and character-filled personality. It has tons of charm, no hard edges and rock-solid purity of fruit, with lots of Pinot Noir flair. Drink it over the coming 4-5 years." Anticipated maturity: 2016-2021.

"Centered around a ripe, rich core of dark berry fruit, with dusty, cedary herb and oak notes. Ends with firm, grainy tannins, complemented by a push of ripe fruit." Drink now through 2021.

"Three other wines worth mentioning among the new releases include the 2013 Pinot Noir Lancel Creek Vineyard (100% Pinot Noir). This is a very small cuvee of 150 cases made from a blend of Pinot Noir clones such as 777 and Pommard. All of it comes from a very cool, windswept hillside vineyard in Occidental. It is aged for 10 months in 50% new French oak prior to being bottled. Lovely, floral, cherry notes intermixed with some spice are present in this medium-bodied, delicate, yet flavorful Pinot Noir. The oak is pushed to the blackground and the wine is stylish, complex and elegant. Drink it over the next 5-7 years."
