As rich as this wine is, it stays very fresh and focused. Flavors and textures that remind me of a great Northern Rhône, with a killer mineral backbone.

"As for the 2014 Zinfandel Iron Hill, this 100% Zinfandel with 10% whole clusters, aged in 30% new French oak. The wine is deep, briary, rich, supple, with loads of berry fruit, sweet tannins and a lush, heedy mouthfeel. Drink it over the next 5-7 years."
Well stressed at a 55 degree slope with great iron exposure provides more red notes in the fruit.

"It is certainly marked by the winery's signature ripeness, yet this nicely focused, solidly structured effort pulls back from the brink and, while a fairly big Zinfandel in most every respect, it is one that relies first on vigorous, blackberry-like fruit. It is not free on heat and, like its companions, comes with plenty of tannic, back-palate grip, yet it nevertheless hints at a bit of sophistication, and we anticipate that it will find a somewhat more mannerly stance once a few years have passed."
