Showcasing the true purity of what this vineyard is all about, aged in a Terra Cotta Amphora you can almost feel the connection it has to the soil. an intense black as night color. The aromas of blackberries and blue fruits, mission figs and dark chocolate intermingled with wild herbs and crushed rocks swirl from the glass.  On the palate this wine is full bodied, silky, lush and very giving, but with just enough structure to keep it on course.

94 Pts Jeb Dunnuck The 2016 Zinfandel Orcio comes from Sonoma Valley and is a juicy, fruit forward, undeniably delicious effort that has smoking good notes of blackberries, blueberries, dried earth, crushed rocks, and cedary herbs. This medium to full-bodied, elegant, silky beauty has building tannin, a seamless texture, and a great finish. It certainly shows the quality of the 2016 vintage in Sonoma and is going to drink nicely for a decade or more.
Conn Guide 93 Pts Orcio is a small-lot experimentation with wine that has been fermented in amphora, an old-fashioned clay vessel whose use arguably produces clean, smoother, fruit-focused wines. And while this variant from the Cassata Vineyard is very much to our liking, it does not rise above the more typical large-vessel results achieved with its vineyard mate. That said, this version seems to be also somewhat rounder and richer if not quite so tight and in need of long-aging. It is not without tannin, but being a tad less hard in texture, it is the more inviting of the two and, in any event, both are exceptional.
