2013 Orcio Cassata Vineyard Zinfandel
2013 Orcio Cassata Vineyard Zinfandel

Or-cio    Italian noun. 1. jug, pitcher, or jar typically of Tuscan origin. This was our first year using a terra cotta amphora to both ferment and age this Zinfandel.  It combines a very Rhône-centric style of winemaking with something so completely Italian in nature.  Jeff created a Zinfandel that smells and tastes truly one of a kind.  Bottled young at 10 months, this wine will surely develop its secondary and tertiary aromas and flavors with more time in the bottle.

Tasting Notes
This wine is pure blackberry pie, black licorice, and coarsely cracked black and white peppercorns.
93 Pts Robert M. Parker Jr., The Wine Advocate "The 2013 Zinfandel Orcio Cassata Vineyard is a stunner, even eclipsing its stablemate from the same vineyard. With gorgeous rich blueberry and blackberry fruit and lofty alcohol (15.2%) that is hardly noticeable, the wine is full-bodied, multidimensional and a staggering example of Zinfandel at its best."
Vineyard Notes
A beautiful biodynamic hillside vineyard behind the famous Pagani Ranch. A cool climate vineyard that is the perfect site for Zinfandel.

75% Zinfandel 25% Petite Sirah
Winemaker Notes
The use of a terra cotta vessel to ferment and age this Zinfandel has given a more Rhône feel with a hint of Italian influence.
