2013 Sweetwater Springs Vineyard Petite Sirah
2013 Sweetwater Springs Vineyard Petite Sirah

Aromas of warm blackberry pie filling nestled into a rich, cinnamon crust lead to fresh pencil shavings, newly turned earth and a touch of smoked meats.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Richness, intensity and finesse. The palate is loaded from front to back with wild blackberries and red raspberries with a finish of freshly ground dark roasted coffee beans brewed and mixed with a hint of milk chocolate.
94+ Pts Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate "Lastly, the 100% Petite Sirah 2013 Landy Sweetwater Springs Vineyard is another 200-case cuvee from a steep hillside vineyard planted in loamy clay and alluvial soils. This wine spent 16 months in 100% new French oak prior to being bottled. It is a powerhouse at 15.5% natural alcohol. Absolutely sensational Petite Sirah, right up there with some of the greatest from California, this killer effort has an inky purple color and a beautiful nose of blueberries, black raspberries, blackberries and floral notes, but it is remarkably concentrated, full-bodied and multi-dimensional. The wine has incredibly sweet tannins and seems to have absorbed the 100% new French oak without a hiccup. This beauty is a full-bodied, bigger-than-life Petite Sirah that should drink well for 20+ years."
Vineyard Notes
The Home Ranch selection of Petite Sirah grown at this beautiful Landy Sweetwater Springs Vineyard in Russian River offers small intense berries, very dark in color but shows blackberry pie fruit and soft tannins- glass staining. Deep and concentrated with a mineral backbone.

Winemaker Notes
The berries are so small, that after we sort and destem into the open top fermenter, you could actually walk across an open tank of fruit, without sinking. It's that compact. As the vineyard has matured, we have found the fruit to make more complex wines and not just over the top Petite Sirah. That's a winemaker's dream.
