2015 Stagecoach Vineyard Viognier
2015 Stagecoach Vineyard Viognier

As with many Condrieu, you have wines that showcase minerality above fruit in some years and fruit above minerality in others. Each of these are not only intriguing to me, but keep the wines of this region exciting. In 2015, we are more on the mineral aspect, with subtle peaches and dried apricots, papaya and fresh vanilla bean.  As seductive and exotic as the aromatics are, the palate is even more so. Round, lush and pinpoint minerality gives this Viognier lift and lightness while still being lush and mouth-coating.

Wine Profile
93 Pts Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines The Northern Rhônes Yves Gangloff and local vintner, Jeff Cohn have for a number of years now been conspiring to make a limited lot of Viognier, and, as good of some of them have been in the past, the 2015 edition is the very best yet. It is an intense, very deep and many-layered wine of enormous richness and range, and it runs from peaches to pineapple with complexing elements of wildflowers, honey and caramel emerging at every turn. It is lushly textured and quite full in body and it shows a touch of late-to-arrive heat, but it is exceptionally well-balanced for the big wine that it is, and it will age effortlessly for another few years.
