2015 Sweetwater Springs Petite Sirah
2015 Sweetwater Springs Petite Sirah

Black as night and vibrant as the North Star, with aromatics that are pure blackberry pie, and creamy aromas as if Viognier was blended in, but it's not. As broad shouldered as this Petite Sirah is, there is a softness that abounds. Do not be fooled! This wine has the minerality and backbone to age for many years to come.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Exotic, seductive and just a touch dangerous. This is Michelle Pfeiffer as bat woman. Leather, whip and a pair of over the knee boots. This wine is dark, feral and as wild as they come. A wine of great depth and mystery on both the aromatics and palate. Layered, round, minerally and with just the right amount of tension to carry the fruit through the long and full bodied mid palate and finish.
95+ Pts Jeb Dunnuck Sourced from the Russian River Valley portion of Sonoma, the 2015 Petite Sirah Sweetwater Springs Vineyard is shockingly elegant, especially given the variety, which can tend to be overdone and rustic. Blueberries, plums, spring flowers, tobacco, and charcoal notes all flow to a medium to full-bodied, seamless Petite Sirah that has awesome purity, fine yet certainly present tannin, and a great finish. This beauty is going to drink nicely for 15+ years. 92 Pts Wine Spectator Deeply structured, dark and polished, with potent blackberry, dark chocolate and white pepper flavors that build toward lively, ripe tannins. Drink now through 2027. –TF
The 2015 Petite Sirah Sweetwater Springs Vineyard is very deep purple-black in color and scented of baked plums and blueberry pie with a baking spice and rose water undercurrent plus a waft of dried thyme. The palate is very big, powerful and full-bodied with very firm, chewy tannins and just enough freshness to lift the concentrated black fruit layers, finishing on a lingering dried-herbs note.
Vineyard Notes
Landy Sweetwater Springs Vineyard in the Russian River Valley has drainage and soil, similar to Rockpile, clay-Loamy, skeletal, and quartz that offers a mineral backbone. These 15+ year old trellised vines at 1000 ft. elevation, with a 55 degree slope produce small intense berries, very dark in color but soft in tannins.
Production Notes
Vinification: 100% De-stemmed, not crushed, open top fermenters, punch downs 5 x day
Winemaker Notes
Small intense berries, very dark in color but shows blackberry pie fruit and soft tannins - glass staining, deep and concentrated.
