2016 Nun's Canyon Vineyard Zinfandel
2016 Nun's Canyon Vineyard Zinfandel
Organic Vineyard - Club Special

Vibrant black cherry red in color with aromatics so southern Rhône in nature but so expressive of the magic old vine Zinfandel can produce from hillside volcanic soils of Moon Mountain. Beginning with freshly cracked peppercorn crusted dry aged steak, black cherry cola with wisps of smoked rosemary and sage, the main focus is a mélange of red, black and white peppercorns and toasted rye bread with caraway seed, black licorice and black cherry. Full bodied, concentrated and well focused, this wine will leave you wanting another glass.

Wine Profile
94 Pts Wine Enthusiat Herbal and leathery, this impressive wine delights in aromas of white pepper, tar and meat. Robustly textured with full-bodied ripeness, it offers savory exoticism that's hard to resist. It was aged in 25% new French oak. 94 pts Wine Advocate The 2016 Zinfandel Nun's Canyon Vineyard opens with notes of graphite, cast iron, tar and turned earth. It opens up to luscious scents of cherry jam, stone fruit cobbler and blue fruit preserves with touches of dried tobacco and eucalyptus. The full-bodied palate is incredibly intense, giving up layer after layer of juicy fruit. It has grainy tannins and surprising freshness, finishing very long. 92+ Pts Jeb Dunnuck The 2016 Zinfandel Nun's Canyon Vineyard comes from Sonoma and saw 20% stems and 18 months in 20% new French oak. It has a more piercing bouquet of red plums, blueberries, cedar box, and incense. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured, with a straight, focused texture, it has terrific balance and the class to evolve positively for over a decade. Conn Guide 91 Pts The highly concentrated fruit in this wine keeps coming and coming from first sniff to lasting, slurpy aftertaste, and while there is a certain extra bit of fleshiness to its texture, the wine is sure to please with savory foods ranging from Italian sausage sautéed with peppers and onions to lamb stew. And, despite cellaring being an option, the wine will stand up to full-flavored dishes from day one. Reviewed: January 2019
